To Find Yourself

If I could just… If I only had… When I am…
The feeling of not being enough runs rampant in society.
Videos, social media, movies… all telling us that we need something to make us better, thinner, more attractive, richer.
The truth is everything we need to thrive in this endless sea of not enough is inside you.
Are you ready to make a change?
Ugh, I failed again, why do I even try?
Thomas A. Edison said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
Yes it is a cheesy line, but it speaks volumes.
When trying something again and again without the expected result frustration can build up, feelings can be suppressed and life can take a turn in the wrong direction.
Some days I can’t even get out of bed!
Depression, anxiety and mental health disorders physically and mentally affect people.
Some days it is rough to even put your feet on the floor.
There is hope, however it’s not a quick fix. It takes time and some work on your part, are you ready to take that first step?
I miss them, how do I do life without them!
The reality is that there is no established time period to grieve the loss of life. There will be healing and rebuilding, learning to live without the person or pet.
It is okay to feel lost, to cry, scream or be angry. It is okay to smile and find joy in life.
It’s not about “getting over” the loss of someone you loved, but rather getting through the next minute, hour or day.
Now is the time to be good to yourself.
Let me ask you a question, would you treat your best friend the way you treat yourself?
The mountain of responsibilities life brings can feel heavy. It’s time to chip away at the mountain and unfold the layers that are weighing you down. Time to extend the same kindness, appreciation and love to yourself that you give to others .
You are worth being good to.

Hi, I’m Valarie.
I believe people have a misconception about counselors. Many people believe we have it all together and have never needed counseling ourselves.
The truth is I have done a lot of work to address my own life experiences, such as depression, grief, guilt and shame. It was hard work and not always fun. I found I was worth the time and energy it took to move through to the next season in life.
Now I have the honor of helping others prepare for their next season in life.
