About Therapy

A Helping Hand

Everyone has challenges, needs, and struggles in life. Sometimes we need a helping hand to move through them.

Asking for help or admitting a need for help does not bring warm and fuzzy feelings.

The thought of sitting in the seat across from a stranger and speaking about feelings and deep pain can really stink.

You are worthy of the investment!

Through talk therapy, homework, and learning new skills, life can get better.

Finding the right counselor is important. If you and I don’t mesh well, it is okay. I hope to be the “right” counselor for you on this journey. If I’m not, I will help you find the right counselor.

About Me

My Background

In addition to earning my Master of Arts in Counseling and Bachelor of Science in Applied Psychology from Colorado Christian University, I am a Certified Master Splankna Practitioner and Life Coach.

My Passion

I have a passion for working with people from all walks of life: men, women, and couples (Splankna) over the age of 18.

Throughout my life I have experienced many deaths, survived cancer, and learned how to live through the pain and heartache.

Valarie L. Barros, MA, LPC, LAC, NCC, CSP, EMDR

I didn’t do it alone. I met counselors along the way: Some were amazing and others not great, but each of them provided something I needed in the moment.

Now I get the privilege of walking with you through your pain and life circumstances—to be there for you the way someone was there for me.

When I’m not doing therapy . . .

I live a simple life. I spend time with my siblings, mom, and friends. I “binge-watch” shows and take time to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
